Apply to Join the Simons Searchlight Community Advisory Committee

You are invited to apply to participate in the Simons Searchlight Community Advisory Committee (CAC). The deadline for applications is September 12.

As a CAC member, you will have the chance to provide your perspective on Simons Searchlight’s research priorities, offer feedback on research surveys and website functionality, and give input on articles, webinars, and other communications of interest to the community.

If you are interested, here are a few things that you should know before you agree to participate:

• You must be 18 years of age or older and speak fluent English to participate in this group.
• The CAC membership consists of ~20 members. There are currently ~9 open positions.
• You must be able to attend two virtual meetings held on: Tuesday April 14, 2026 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM EST and September 8, 2026 from 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM EST.
  
• You will help Simons Searchlight develop and test research surveys, take informal surveys and polls, and participate in online focus groups and CAC meetings.
• Members of this group will be asked to devote at least 10 hours per year to CAC-related activities. This will be a combination of attending the required virtual meetings as well as completing in-between project assignments through working groups.
• Members will be invited to serve for 2 year terms (starting in January 2026 and ending December 2027), but may resign at any time.
• Active participants will receive a $500 honorarium as a thank you for each year of participation (*active includes attending two virtual meetings and providing periodic feedback on ongoing CAC-related activities).

To ensure an equitable rotation of CAC members, we do ask those who have already served two terms to please wait at least two years before applying again. Thank you for understanding.
